Time to start utilizing our local Wildlife areas again! Despite the seasonal
closing of the areas north of Hwy 21/Hwy17, the diversion canal and surrounding
areas south of the Highway are teaming with water fowl at the moment.
For this morning hike, we'll meet up at the entrance to the Laurel Hill Wildlife
Drive and walk the dike system for a few miles. Along the way we should be able
to spot the seasons bounty of duck, geese and wading birds who are currently
migrating and foraging in our area.
To reach the wildlife drive, head north across the river from Savannah on Hwy 17. Go until you see the overpass as 17 crosses over Hwy 170/Hwy 21. Turn left and onto Hwy170/Hwy21. Go approximately 4 miles and you will see the entrance to the wildlife drive on the left.
*****PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL BE PARKING AND STARTING AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE WILDLIFE DRIVE, NOT THE ADDRESS LISTED FOR THE REFUGE ABOVE****
